Mick smiled down at his phone. Lewis had just agreed to his idea of taking a few days off to Switzerland before heading back to race week.
I'll pick you up at the airport, if you don't mind?
Mick waited nervously for Lewis's reply. Then immediately hit the notification when Lewis's name was on the screen.
Thank you. I really appreciate it. But I can't keep bothering you. I'll store my things in the hotel and rushed to the place we'll meet at.
That's Lewis' replied. Mick let out a disappointed sigh. But the next second he was smiling from ear to ear.
Lewis refuses to stay at Mick's home for the holidays. And of course Mick gets it. Nor did he really mean to invite Lewis to stayed with him. It's just an empty gesture.
Living in an Alpha's house- an Alpha's den, and an unmated one, is of course a difficult thing for most Omegas. Likewise with Lewis. Even though he always told Mick that he couldn't see Mick as an 'alpha', his omega instinct still knew that Mick is an alpha. And that instinct told Lewis to turn down Mick's offer.
***
Mick left for the nesting material shop. He was very excited to choose the best bedding for Lewis, to welcome him to Switzerland.
The Beta employe happily showed Mick various nesting material sets.
Mick chose carefully and thoughtfully. After a few moments of weighing and selecting the various options, Mick came out of the shop with a pile of nesting material sets.
He put the nesting material into the car, then put his hands on his hips, smiling proudly at his final choice.
***
Mick arrives at the place he and Lewis agreed on. A quiet and comfortable cafe near a park.
Mick ordered a drink and sat waiting for Lewis. Excited and nervous.
At long last, he would finally meet Lewis again. With the omega that he really admired, he liked, he loved.
Not long, the soft scent of lavender invaded Mick's nose. Mick immediately turned to the source of the scent.
Mick shifted his gaze from the phone in front of him towards the entrance. Instantly Mick smiled to find the person he was waiting for.
Unusually when he arrives at the paddock- Lewis always wears clothes with striking colors and styles, this time he looks comfortable in a gray hoodie.
Lewis smiled when he found Mick had been staring at him since he entered the cafe.
"Hey," Says Lewis as he sits across from Mick. Mick smiled widely.
He knows that Lewis may already know about the news that he will debut in F1 next season. But Mick really wanted to say it to Lewis in person. He wanted to see how Lewis would react when he found out that next season they would be closer, and meet more often.
They talk about many things. Mick was really enjoying this moment. He wished that time would freeze, so he could keep talking to Lewis, so that Lewis was only for him, and Lewis' attention was only on him.
Mick cleared his throat, Lewis stared at him as he sipped the hot chocolate in front of him.
"I know you may have heard about this," Start Mick. Lewis put down his glass, his full attention on Mick.
"Lewis, next season I'll be racing you. We will share tracks." Mick gulped.
"Next season I will debut in F1. I will be an F1 driver."
Mick looked at Lewis intently. He saw the corners of Lewis' lips slowly lift, then forming a perfect smile.
---
Lewis has been constantly nervous ever since he learned that next season Mick will be racing in F1. Mick's invitation for him to spend time in Switzerland after the season ends, and during the winter break adds to his anxiety.
He knew Mick would tell him about his F1 debut.
It was time for Mick to break the news. His breath seemed to stop. He knew sooner or later this would happen.
He grew even more agitated when he realized that Mick hadn't changed at all. He seemed to like him even more.
---
"Congratulation! I'm so happy for you! In the end, all your struggles and efforts have paid off!"
Mick smiled, feeling like his cheeks would hurt because of the big smile he kept showing since Lewis was caught by his eyes.
"Thank you. It means a lot to me. I'm so happy."
After talk of his F1 debut, Mick continued to talk things out with Lewis. He tried to hold Lewis longer. He wanted to enjoy as much time alone with Lewis as possible.
In the end he had to accept when Lewis' phone rang and the pickup had arrived for him.
Mick walked Lewis outside the cafe. He can see a black car parked waiting for Lewis not far from there.
"Sorry I have to go this early. I really enjoyed today, thank you."
Mick nodded hesitantly. It felt like that much time was not enough for him.
"We'll meet again tomorrow. You remember when you promised to take me up the hill like you usually do with Angie, right?"
Mick cheered up again.
"Of course! I'll pick you up at the hotel tomorrow." Lewis nodded.
"Okay. Good night, Mick."
"Good night, Lewis."
Mick smiled to himself. He can't believe it, tomorrow he will be spending time with Lewis again.
Mick decides to head home after buying hot chocolate to go. He got into the car and noticed the nesting material he had just bought for Lewis.
Mick groaned. He always forgets important things. He bought it for Lewis so he could feel more comfortable in his new place. Even though Lewis is an F1 driver who is used to moving around quickly, still, as an omega, Mick knows that inside, Lewis really wants to be surrounded by familiar smells.
Mick sighed, he always forgot the world when Lewis was in front of him.
Oh wait, that's because Lewis is his world.
***
Early in the morning, after calling Lewis to make sure he was ready, Mick immediately headed to the hotel to pick up Lewis.
When he entered the lobby, Mick was surprised to see Lewis already sitting there casually.
"Hey. Good morning." Lewis looked up from his phone.
"Mick! Good morning." Lewis smiled brightly.
Mick held back his rumbling looking at Lewis who looked very comfortable and smelled very happy.
"Mick! I just received news that my favorite shop has restocked my favorite chocolate."
Mick chuckled. So that's what makes Lewis smells and looks so happy.
"Really?"
"Yeah!"
Lewis tells how he first knew that this chocolate would be his favorite, and how he was scolded for eating chocolate in secret.
The trip to the hill was filled with laughter.
"Sorry Angie can't accompany us this time. She was at my mother's house." Mick said
"It's okay. Out of luck. Maybe next time." Lewis smiled. Mick held back his rumbling when he heard Lewis signal that he wanted to do this with him again.
Arriving at the foot of the hill, Mick took out their bags. Lewis looked around and took a deep breath.
Nature, cool, and calm. A collaboration that is completely different from the life of an F1 driver. Big city, hot, and noisy.
Lewis smiled, now he understood why Mick liked it here so much, and wanted to invite him to enjoy it too.
Mick helped Lewis put on his bag, then they started walking.
About an hour after they started their journey, Mick winced as his nose picked up a very strong sweet scent.
It's very quiet here. So far he could only smell the natural scent around him, and Lewis' scent next to him.
Wait, Lewis scent?
Mick looked at Lewis who walked quickly but carefully. He still recounts the ridiculous things that happened to him as an F1 driver.
Mick stopped, and Lewis stopped too, looking at him confused.
"What's wrong?" Asked Lewis. Mick paused, then walked closer to Lewis. Lewis gave Mick a confused look, then he backed away.
"Mick-"
"Lewis, when is your heat scheduled?"
That's a question an alpha shouldn't be asking an omega who isn't their mate. And Lewis would have been irritated and offended if Mick hadn't asked in a worried tone.
"What? I- uhh .. I always scheduled my heat between races break. Why-"
"So, winter break also count?"
"Huh? Yeah. It's-" Lewis widened his eyes. He backed away further from Mick.
"I- uhh .. My heat is shouldn't start now, or a next few days. I scheduled it about next week."
Mick immediately can smell distress along with an extremely sweet scent.
"Hey, its fine. Its-"
"No, its not fine. I'm so far from my nest, from my most comfortable and safest place. I can't- Mick, what should I do?"
Mick also felt panic rising in his body. But he tried to suppress it. Because Lewis will only panic more if he also smells panic in Mick's scent.
"We're- we're coming back as fast as we can. I'll protect you I promise."
Lewis whined, he started to smell his own sweet scent in the air.
"I'll call Angela when we get a signal. So she can pick you up when we reach the foot of the hill. Let's go- we have to hurry."
Mick motioned for Lewis to return to their previous path. Lewis nodded, starting to follow Mick.
Along the way Mick made sure Lewis was safe and comfortable. Lewis suddenly whimpered and stopped walking. Mick turned his head quickly. Worry was clear on his face.
"Are you okay?" Lewis shook his head. "Mick .. I-"
Mick felt something choking him as a light breeze brought Lewis' strong sweet scent to him.
A strong heat wave dizzy Mick's head and made him freeze for a second.
When his senses returned as fast as it left him, Mick put down his bag, opened his jacket, put it down. Then he backed off.
"You can wear my jacket. I- I heard omegas feel safer if they have Alpha's scent in them when in heat. Maybe I'm not the alpha you expected, but-"
"Thank you Mick." Lewis cut him off, reached Mick's jacket, and then immediately purring as his nose caught Mick's scent in him.
Mick's cheeks heated up. He could tell he was red as a boiling crab right now.
"C'mon- let's move on. I hope we get a signal soon, so I can call Angela."
Lewis follows Mick in silence. Mick's in full alert all the time. His alpha instinct awake without his knowing.
He's so protective over Lewis. How he'll immediately take anyone down near them because his instinct to protect omega who's in heat right now.
Mick's confused a little. How can he be so protective over Lewis, when he's not Lewis' alpha?
Well, because his instincts tell him otherwise. His instincts tell him to protect any omega in heat who's under his protection.
When a notification buzzing Mick's phone, he knows that they're already able to reach signal here. So without lingering, he reached his phone in his pocket, and called Angela.
As long as he was on the phone with Angela, he didn't take off his eyes and his attention from Lewis even a second. He's make sure that nothing will be near them, especially near Lewis.
Down the hill that feels like eternity is finally over. Lewis was whinning again, his first heat wave attacked him. Mick backed away in panic. Lewis's scent is really intoxicated for him who are in full alert mode. And it's not good for him, for both of them.
"Lewis, you can wait for Angela in my car. That'll be safer." Lewis nodded, then walked towards Mick's car in hurry.
He took a backseat the moment after Mick opened it.
"Just locked it from inside. I'll wait for Angela here."
Lewis nodded, and then locked himself there. Mick sat down facing the door that had Lewis there. His instincts are still on full alert. And how Lewis' heat wave stormed into him recently didn't help him at all to control his instinct.
Mick still can smell Lewis' sweet scent even from outside the car. He tries to distract himself and hopes that time is moving faster.
After waiting like an eternity, a car moves closer, then stops a few meters away from his car. Mick stood up immediately and walked closer to the car. And after he saw Angela behind the wheel, he relaxed and stood there waiting for her.
Angela rushed out to him, worrying clear in her face.
"Where is he now?" Angela was carrying something in her hand.
"My car. I don't really understand about heat, sorry. So I didn't realize it until his heat wave started." Angela shook her head.
"No, no. It's nothing your fault. The person who should be most aware of that is me." Angela replied, now a smile tugging in her lips reasurringly.
"It's not like the plan at all. I guess his heat is coming early because of all that pressure and stress." Mick nodded agreed.
"I will take him now. Do you mind if asked you to step away for a while?" Mick blinks. Blinks again. Angela still smiling looking at him.
"Uh? Sure. I- well, are you guys okay If I left just the two of you?"
Angela confidently nodded.
"I feel safer if you walk away for a moment."
Mick's felt his heart ache.
He understood that Angela was just worried for Lewis. But he still can't help that he's a little hurt because he's so happy and proud of himself how he's never looked at Lewis as his 'prey' all the way they went down the hill.
He's even able to control himself to make the decision to make Lewis safe enough in his car, even though he can't directly look at Lewis and know Lewis' condition.
"Yeah. Sure. I'll go-"
"I have to make sure that you're not taking it the wrong way." Angela said when Mick turned to walk to the more space parking lot.
Mick stopped his walk.
"I trust you. And of course I'm proud of you how you can control yourself under a situation like this." Mick smiled.
"But now Im worried about my own safety other than Lewis."
Now Mick raised his eyebrows confused. Angela chuckled.
"You know, I'll take an omega in heat under your supervision, in your space." Now Mick understood.
"Its not really about you I'm promise. But more like about your alpha instinct. Your young alpha instinct is not used to it or maybe you've never been in a situation like this before."
"Which is very dangerous for me to take an omega in heat from under your watch, in your personal space. Because I'm sure your instincts are very sharp for him right now."
Mick's cheeks red at that. He clears his throat. So that's why. So that's why he felt so protective over Lewis all this time. Because it was his instinct who acted like that for him, and he's happy to know that he's not at fault.
"Okay, I- uhh I understand. I try to get a little away but close enough to run here immediately if something happened."
Now not just a smile, Angela chuckled.
"See?" She said, with two of her eyebrows raised.
Mick's face felt hot again. He said that subconsciously.
And with that, he stood far enough to protect Angela from his instincts, but close enough to arrive there immediately with a little run if something happened.
Not long, Angela called him, and waved. He walked fast approached her. With a quick glance at his car, he can't see Lewis there anymore. And for some reason his heartache.
So this is why Angela asked him to walk away for some time. His instinct screamed to take Lewis back from her, and put him back to his own safe space.
He knows exactly that Lewis is safe with Angela now. But his instinct didn't.
"He's already in the car, and I already gave him his pills. So he's okay now. Thanks to you." Mick smiled happily.
"I do what I can." He replied. Angela smiled, then took a tiny bottle from his pocket.
"This is a scent neutralizer. Not really eliminating all the heat scent, but at least enough to make you drive safe."
Mick nodded, open his car. Angela sprayed his car and then gave the bottle to him.
"In case you need it."
"Thank you."
"So, I have to take Lewis to rest for today. I'm sorry but you can't meet him for the rest of the day. But I'll make sure to make him catch up with you and talk about your plan when he's better."
Mick nodded understand.
"Of course. I'm not worried about our plan, really. I just hope he's safe wherever he's plan to spend his heat at."
Angela smile, pat his shoulder.
"Once again, thank you Mick."
Mick still stood there holding the tiny bottle when Angela's car honked and passed him. Mick smiled and waved.
Then he hesitantly walked towards his car. Sure enough, Lewis' scent hadn't completely vanished. He again sprayed the contents of the bottle all over his car. Having had enough, he got behind the wheel and sighed.
Not as planned, but still thankful that nothing bad happened.
***
Mick didn't hear from Lewis or Angela all day. He sighed, glanced at the clock which was already 10 pm. He also decided to call it an early night. Hoping tomorrow morning he would hear from Lewis, or maybe even see him.
***
In the morning, Mick woke up after hearing the alarm on his phone going off. He immediately got out of bed and decided to take a shower.
Mick frowned as he smelled something different in his scent. His breath hitched as he realized that maybe Lewis' heat wave yesterday had triggered his rut early.
Mick sat up and tried to think about it carefully when his phone rang. He picked it up immediately, and felt his heart leap out at the sight of the text from Lewis, he said he was fine, and they could meet for a dinner or something. Because Angela didn't let him go too far.
Mick immediately typed a reply that he would go and meet Lewis at the place and time Lewis gave him, when a realization hit him.
He couldn't go and see Lewis if he was showing signs of rut. Mick sighed. It didn't go as planned.
He desperately wanted to go and see Lewis as much and as long as he could. But Angela and even Lewis himself would soon realize his pre-rut, and Angela would not allow Lewis to be with him.
In the end, after much thought, Mick decided to use a lot of scent blockers and scent neutralizers. It was quite risky, but he was sure of himself that he could control his rut.
***
Arriving at the place Lewis asked for, Mick again sprayed lots of scent blocker and scent neutralizer on his body before getting out of the car.
He took a breath, then got out of the car. Sure enough, Angela was standing beside Lewis. Mick's heart started beating again. Is the spray earlier was enough to cover his scent?
On one hand Mick understood that Angela would not be far from Lewis because she knew he was approaching his heat. But on other hand, Mick felt that Angela's presence made his current situation more difficult.
Mick tried to calm himself down so they wouldn't smell his nervousness.
"Hey, good night." He greeted. Lewis and Angela smiled.
"Good night," Lewis replied.
"Night." Angela nodded.
"So, let's go take some dinner?" Lewis asked. Mick nodded.
"The place Lewis' choose not far from here. So I don't have to come with you,"
Angela look at her watch.
"Just leave your car here and enjoy the night breeze."
Mick and Lewis smiled, love the idea.
"I'll come pick him up later." Angela added. Mick nodded.
***
Lewis sat across from Mick, and immediately smiled at him.
"I'm so sorry for what happened yesterday. I'm bothering you so much, and just left you hanging like that." Lewis look so sorry, Mick chuckle.
"No. You dont have to say sorry about that. I'm happy that you're okay now."
"Yeah. Angela give me my suppressant and some other things to keep my heat under control. So I'm fine for now and for the next few days hopefully."
Mick nodded, happy to hear that.
They talked about everything that came into their minds. Mick excitedly tells about his championship journey, about his friends, and more. Lewis listens all of that happily.
They finished their dinner, Mick went to the bathroom to spray more scent blockers and scent neutralizers before they headed to the next place.
When he returned to the table, he smelled Lewis' sweet scent like yesterday. He's panicked and immediately looked at Lewis who shifted in his chair uncomfortably.
No way. Not here. So many people here. He'll get so much attention soon. Mick panicked in his mind.
Mick walked up and stood up close to Lewis, he bent down.
"Let's get out of here." He said in a hurry. Lewis nodded, and reached for Mick's hand. Mick looked at him for a moment, then held his hand with his red face.
Mick guide Lewis out of the place, towards the more less people. His mind racing.
Why this happened? Didn't Lewis just say the heat wouldn't happen for the next few days because they already did something about it? But why?
And something clicks.
His rut.
Mick felt his breath hitch. His rut triggered Lewis' heat. A virtuous circle. Lewis' heat had triggered his rut, and now his rut was triggering Lewis' heat again.
He still wanted to hold Lewis's hand a little longer. But he couldn't. Not now. As Lewis looks to be in a lot of pain, and the risk of his rut is coming back again.
He made Lewis sit up, releasing his hold slowly. Lewis whined.
"Don't leave me," He said, Mick immediately felt so bad to do that to him. But he doesn't have another choice.
"No. I won't leave you. I'll call Angela again, and tell her to pick you up. We have to wait here, because it's too risky to take you like this with so many people around."
Lewis looked like he didn't listen to Mick. He just curled up on the bench, and hugged himself. Mick took off his jacket, then he put it on Lewis. Lewis looks calmer. Mick held back his rumbling looking at Lewis who looked satisfied.
He took a few steps away from Lewis, then immediately called Angela again. His eyes didn't move from Lewis for a second.
Angela immediately picked up, and without needing a long explanation, she immediately understood what had happened. Because Mick wasn't going to call her to pick Lewis up if nothing happened.
Angela knew very well that Mick really wanted to spend time with Lewis. That's why she allowed Lewis to see Mick again today.
Mick approached Lewis again, then sprayed scent neutralizer several times around Lewis.
Not long, Angela came, and just like yesterday, she approached Lewis with a small bag in her hand.
She immediately jogged towards Lewis, past Mick.
She opened the small bag, then gave Lewis some pills and helped him drink them.
Lewis looked calmer, and his breathing started to become even. Angela sighed, then stood up and walked over to Mick.
"This shouldn't have happened. I think his heat can't be postponed anymore."
Mick swallowed hard. Feeling guilty and feeling stupid.
If only he hadn't been stupid and insisted on having dinner with Lewis tonight, none of this would have happened.
"I have to take him home soon. Lewis always wanted to spend his heats at home, where he was most familiar."
Mick nodded.
If only he didn't trigger Lewis's heat again, Lewis would still be able to enjoy his holiday in Switzerland. Mick feels bad and feels stupid.
He looked at Lewis who was assisted by Angela to get into the car.
"Come on," Angela turned to Mick before getting into the wheel. Mick shook his head.
"I'll catch up. I'm sure Lewis would feel more comfortable if he wasn't in the car with me."
Angela nodded.
"Alright, take care."
***
Mick walked away still feeling guilty and regretful.
His phone rings. Angela called.
"Come to Lewis' hotel room if you can. We've talked about it, and we're going home on the earliest plane tomorrow. And he at least wanted to say goodbye."
"I will come. Thanks for telling me."
And the call was ended.
Mick had mixed feelings. Feelings of guilt, regret, and happy that Lewis still took the time to say goodbye to him.
***
Mick is waiting in the lobby, and Angela comes to get him. They go to Lewis's room together.
Lewis invited Mick and Angela inside.
Angela went inside and sat at the mini bar. She couldn't leave Lewis in his pre heat with an alpha alone.
Mick and Lewis chatted for a few moments. It looks ridiculous because they are sitting so far apart.
After a while, Angela approached and said that Lewis had to get ready for bed for tomorrow's flight.
"Sorry I have to sleep early. Because my flight is early in the morning tomorrow."
Mick nodded slowly.
Three days spent with Lewis felt like the blink of an eye. Mick sighed and glanced at a briefcase in the corner of the room which was already neatly packed.
Lewis noticed Mick's scent change. He immediately tried to lighten the mood.
"Don't worry. You said it yourself that we would meet more often, right?" This time Mick nodded firmly.
"We'll be closer, so we'll see each other more often. So don't worry okay?"
Mick involuntarily rumbling hearing that. He then cleared his throat, and remembered the nesting material he bought for Lewis.
"I have something for Lewis. I can drop it here if you don't mind." Mick looked at Angela.
"Is it in your car?" Mick nodded.
"Okay. I'll leave with you to pick it up."
"I- I uhh .. I want to give it in person to Lewis. If it's possible."
Lewis looked at Mick curiously. Mick smiled.
"I won't be long I promise. I'll be leaving as soon as I give it to Lewis."
Angela looked thoughtful, then finally nodded in agreement.
Mick smiled happily, and immediately got up from his seat to get his gift for Lewis.
"Just a second!" He said excitedly then disappeared behind the door.
***
Angela opened the door and found Mick carrying a pile of nesting materials.
She didn't ask much. She shifted to let Mick in.
Lewis, who was sitting casually playing with his phone, was surprised when Mick came in carrying various kinds of nesting material.
Angela passed them, returning to her seat at the mini bar.
Far enough to eavesdrop, close enough to know immediately if something is up.
Mick kept all of that beside Lewis, then he backed away.
"Mick, it's-"
"It's nothing behind it, I promise. It's just a light gift for you. Well, at first it's a welcome gift. But I guess it's a farewell gift now."
Mick chuckled. Lewis looks at his new nesting set, and at Mick takes turns.
"I just want to make sure you're comfortable here. So I'm thinking to buy you some nesting materials."
Lewis' eyes sparkle. Then shifted to gloomy and tucked in guilt in a second.
"Thank you so much, Mick. You're so understanding and so sweet."
"You're welcome. I'm happy if you like it." Mick's smile widen.
"And, uhh- here. Your jackets." Lewis returns Mick's jackets that Mick had put on him yesterday and today earlier. Mick accepted it.
"Thank you again, Mick. For everything. Go up the hill with me, even if we doesn't reach the top." Lewis and Mick chuckled.
"Helped and protected me until Angela came. Yesterday, and today too. Thank you."
Mick's cheeks were completely red. His smile even wider if that possible.
"I'm happy to be able to do that, Lewis. I hope you come back to Switzerland soon to enjoy more beautiful places here." Lewis nodded excited.
"And have a safe flight tomorrow."
Lewis nodding again, and he raised his fist.
"See you on F1 pack grid next year?"
Mick's eyes lit up, he's fist bump's Lewis.
"Yeah. See you there Lewis!"
***
During his way to home, Mick can't stop humming. Things didn't go as planned, but at least he had something to look forward to.
Winter testing, new season, new atmosphere, new friends, new people to work with, and the most exciting for him right now is, new pack. He'll be F1 official pack member from now on.
***
Mick is feeling very excited today. Aside from his rut is ended, he also can't wait to be a part of F1 pack grid soon.
Indeed, shortly after the announcement that he would debut in F1 this season, he will automatically become an F1 driver, but it doesn't feel official if he hasn't entered the F1 pack, so today is his big day. Other drivers will welcome 3 new drivers debuting this year.
Nikita Mazepin, the beta who will become his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, the omega who will become the teammate of Pierre Gasly who is an Alpha, and himself.
Mick was escorted by a team member to the front of the pack building. He was given instructions to go straight into the pack room. Mick nodded, and immediately walked to the main room of the pack building.
He was quite nervous and his heart was beating fast. But his excitement is also there.
Finally Mick arrived in front of the main pack room. He could smell many new scents, and some familiar scents among them as well.
Seb, Kimi, and Lewis were scents he recognized immediately. Then Charles, because Charles was always with Seb and Kimi.
Then Mick took a breath as he realized the other two rookies had arrived, only he had not.
After catching his breath for the umpteenth time, Mick knocked on the door, then opened it slowly.
He could feel all eyes on him.
"Mick!" Seb shouted. He immediately smiled as wide as he could. Sebastian came closer, and hugged him. Mick looked for Kimi's eyes, then after his gaze met Kimi's nodding gaze, he hugged Sebastian back.
"Welcome, Schatz!" Seb chirped. Mick laughed.
"Thank you, Seb." He replied excitedly, but then his smile faded when Seb let go of their hug, and he frowned.
"Seb?" He asked confused, but then he realized that now it wasn't just Seb, but every omega in the room seemed whinning and scooting further from him.
Kimi walk closer towards him. His instinct awaken immediately. He felt uneasy. Kimi is his new pack alpha, and now it looks like he's disturbing peace in Kimi's pack.
Mick wanted to get out of there when Kimi asked gently.
"Are you in rut?" Mick's eyes widen. Just realized this important thing.
"No. I- I just finished my rut," Kimi nodded.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know that in F1 pack room omegas and alphas are mixed together. I'll be back when my scent is a bit clearer."
Charles walked closer.
"No. It's okay. We'll have to get used to your scent from now on. So this is the perfect time to learn to accept your scent around us." Charles said then looked at Kimi.
Kimi nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. You can stay here. Your rut is ended anyway. So it's just your post rut's scent. It's a bit overwhelming, but I'm sure they'll be okay." Mick nodded.
Seb patted Mick's shoulder.
"Don't be so nervous. We're all family here." Mick felt his pressure immediately vanished. He sighed. Seb is a pack omega. That's why he felt so welcome and warm when Seb welcomed him like that.
"Thank you, Seb, and you two."
They smiled, then Kimi looked at Seb and Charles.
"If you need to make a nest to make you calmer, then do it." Charles and Seb nodded.
"Sorry." Mick squeaked. Charles chuckled.
"No. It's not your fault, don't worry. We're always make a nest when we're tired, or just feel like it." Mick smiles, felt very welcome with how his new pack alpha, and his two mates welcome him, comfort him, and make sure he feels like a member.
When Charles and Seb go to other omegas to make some nests, now a bunch of alphas and betas are welcoming him. They hug him, pat him, or just fist bump him.
Now Mick sat with Kimi and Daniel beside him.
"You stink." Daniel said, sniffing air around Mick. Other drivers laugh. Mick's cheeks red.
"If I knew the rooms were mixed like this, I would have waited until I smelled a little clearer." Mick replied with a chuckle of embarrassment.
"I thought F1 pack room is the same as F2 pack room. The Omega and Alpha lounge areas were separated, and there was a large mixed-up room just for when we needed pack bonding or something."
"It's different here. We are all mature enough and good at controlling our own instincts, so there's no need to be separated like that. In fact we really need each other, we are very attached to the pack bond."
Mick was stunned that Kimi was willing to go that long to explain to him.
"We also have our own room if you want to be alone or need privacy." Added George. Mick nodded.
"As Kimi said, we are very dependent on pack bonds, here you can even enter the omega nest. Of course with their permission." Daniel explained. Mick nodded, remembering Lewis' explanation.
***
Winter testing went smoothly. Time seems to roll by quickly. Just counting the days and his first race in F1 will begin.
Mick was walking casually enjoying the night air around the paddock, and accidentally bumped into Lewis.
"Hey." Lewis greeted. Mick's eyes shone.
"Hey, where are you going?" He asked. Lewis shrugged.
"Back to Mercedes hospitality after walking around for a bit." Mick nodded.
Mick looked at Lewis with awe and love. He tried to hold back his rumbling staring at Lewis who looked beautiful under the dim lights of the night.
Then who knows what ambushed him, he came closer, then looked at Lewis deeply.
"Are you starting to see me as an Alpha now, Lewis?"
Lewis looked surprised, he averted his eyes from Mick.
"You promised you would open your heart to me if I could prove to you that my feelings weren't a fleeting feelings." Now Mick's voice sounded hoarse. Lewis sighed.
"I don't know, Mick. It's so hard to see you like that because I know your father. I even know him personally. And we're all pretty close."
"Yes. So what? You didn't know me until I was a teenager, right?"
"But I watched you grow,"
"Lewis. It's not wrong. So what if you knew when I was little? What matters now is that I'm an adult, right?"
"No. I just, I can't, Mick."
Mick took Lewis' hand, then grabbed his wrist, preventing Lewis from leaving and avoiding this conversation again.
"Lewis, tell me the real reason. Don't just say you can't. You didn't say anything about this before. Why is it now that this thing is also blocking me from you?"
Mick felt his breath catch when he realized that Lewis was indeed difficult to reach, and his struggle still seemed very far away.
"What is the reason? Is it because I'm younger? Lewis, I promise to take care of you and be responsible of you. Don't worry about it. My parents raised me well."
Lewis closed his eyes for a moment. It hurts to hear that. But in his heart he also felt very happy to be able to get Alpha's attention as kind as Mick Schumacher.
"Lewis-"
"Mick, I'm tired. Please let me go." Mick realized that he had been holding Lewis' wrist all along.
He sighed.
"Sorry," He said while letting go of Lewis' wrist. Lewis smiled, then looked down at the wrist Mick had been holding.
"Alright good night. Sleep well." Lewis said, then turned towards Mercedes Hospitality.
After Lewis left, Mick was still standing in silence.
This was not what he imagined when he became closer to Lewis.
Mick sighed.
Should his fight for Lewis continue, or should he give up and find someone who is willing to accept his love?
Only time can answer that.
